Humanity grapples with blindness, misled by false beliefs and manufactured desires. People can’t see clearly anymore; they’re too focused on artificial things and shallow pleasures. Isolated from one another and from themselves, they fumble in search of answers, driven by a blend of survival instincts and insatiable desires. However, a chance encounter with fellow beings and recognizing shared vulnerabilities kindle hope and stir dormant consciences. Yet, the promise of community is overshadowed by the allure of dominance. Ego’s ambitions lead to the clash with an uncompromising deity – a transfigured echo of a cynical and uncompromising God in the guise of an ox – who rejects humans, shuns them, blinds them, and drives them back to the superficial reality.

Bue serves as a poignant commentary on the failures of contemporary hyper-capitalist and anthropocentric societies. Here, the elitarian power is wielded self-indulgently and destructively, perpetuating harm to nature, fellow humans, and nonbeings. The lost voyagers of Bue engage in fierce competition for control over light. Yet, this light proves unbearable for most, and those who seek to harness it are overwhelmed and consumed by its intensity.

Bue is a story about light pollution and disrupted biorhythms, where the loss of darkness exacerbates humanity’s detachment from nature. The relentless pursuit of illumination and distraction leaves no space for introspection. How long does it take for our eyes to adjust to darkness? How long until we relinquish our fear of it? Our disconnection from darkness has inflicted irreparable damage on the ecosystem, disrupting the delicate balance between day and night. In this respect, dance emerges as a medium for rediscovering the night and embracing darkness as a sanctuary from the overpowering flashes of our time.
